20 things about 2009

So, I saw this post on Faith's blog and remembered that I had done this little survey last year....or so I thought.  When looking through my posts, I saw that I had typed it up, but never published it - oops!  I figured I couldn't post 20 things about 2010 without posting my 20 things about 2009....Better late than never, right?!?

1. What did you do in 2009 that you had never done before?
I had a baby! =0)
I also went to Fripp Island, ate McDonald's twice in one week (while I was pregnant....and just for the record, I haven't eaten there since!), bought maternity clothes, had four baby showers, and missed the first day of school.

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I honestly can't remember.  I know I made some, because I do every year, but I can't for the life of me remember what they were!  I guess maybe that means I didn't keep them...oops!
This year I have made a few New Year's Resolutions: to spend more time with Jeffrey and be a better wife, to quit my job to stay home with Libbi, and to be committed to finding a church home.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
YES!  Lots of babies were born this year!  Lily, Avery, Esther Grace, Phoebe, and of course Libbi =0)
I also have a few friends that are expecting babies VERY VERY soon....and Justin and Mandie (my bro and sis-in-law) will give Libbi a cousin this summer!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No

5. What places have you visited?
Fripp Island, Hilton Head, Panama City Beach....I think that's all for 2009.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A waistline....just kidding! (kind of). ha!

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched in your memory and why?
February 2nd, because that is the day we found out that our baby was a girl
June 22nd, because that was the day that she joined our family!

8. What was your biggest achievement this year?
Hands down....becoming a mom!
We also paid off some debt which was a great accomplishment.  The Lord will provide!

9. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No - praise God!  I had a relatively easy pregnancy.  I was never sick throughout the entire nine months even while being around 20 kindergarteners every day!  What's more shocking is that I didn't injure myself.  I was constantly bumping into things and tripping the entire time I was pregnant.  I may have thought I was sick a number of times (I may be a *slight* .....emphasis on "slight"..... hypochondriac) but nothing worth noting. ;0)

10. What was the best thing you bought?
My camera!  We invested in a good camera before Libbi was born and it has truly lived up to it's potential.  It was technically a gift from Jeffrey (my first mother's day gift) but since we have a joint account I feel like I can say I "bought" it....

11. Where did most of your money go?
Baby Gap, Gymboree, Matilda Jane, L&D at the Hospital, monogramming....

12. What song will always remind you of 2009?
It Won't Be Like This For Long (Darius Rucker) I remember hearing it while pregnant and just SOBBING.  I think I may have even had to pull over, because I was such a mess.  Jeffrey could never understand why I would turn it up every.single.time we heard it on the radio just to bawl through the entire thing....after we had Libbi, I think he understood a little bit better.

13. What do you wish you would have done more of?
saved!  Looking back, there were areas in our life where I could have really saved some money, but I did not take advantage of it at the time.  I also wish I would have done some form of exercise....anything....anything at all.

14. What do you wish you would have done less of?
obviously spend money on pointless things.  And I wish I would have eaten less when I was pregnant.  Pretty much anything was fair game! =0)

15. What was your favorite TV program?
Oh so many!  The Office, CSI:Miami, CSI:NY, Law&Order SVU, I loved Without a Trace (but it has since been cancelled...boo!) and I am ashamed to admit it, but I was addicted to "Sixteen and Pregnant" something about that show just totally sucked me in.

16. What was the best book you read this year?
What to Expect When You're Expecting.  I read and re-read and re-read that book all the time!

17. What was your favorite film of the year?
Oh my word....I am still so ashamed to say that the last movie I saw was "The Hangover" back in May (ashamed that I actually paid to see that movie and ashamed that I haven't been to a movie theater since then!) but I also really like "Fireproof" - it was a great movie!

18. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I did not want to celebrate my birthday....at all!  I was HUMONGOUS and did not want to do anything!  Libbi was born two days after my birthday if that helps you know how preggo I was....ugh!  We went to a Mexican restaraunt with my parents and I think that I ate an entire cookie cake in less than a day.  I turned 27 on my birthday and two days later I gave birth to my baby girl.

19. What political issue stirred you the most?
Nothing really "stirred" me....but I did have jury duty when I was 8 months pregnant.  This actually "stirred" me a little, because they did not even take pity on me!  I had to stay for two full days, get called to the jury room and sit on the hard wooden bench!  I also had to be escorted out of the courtroom by the baliff not once, but twice, to go to the bathroom.  Everyone would look at me with such pity, but it sure didn't help me get out of jury duty!

20. Who was the best new person you met?
Why, sweet Libbi Jane, of course!
